Gwen Nabad finished first in Tuesday’s preliminary municipal election for Ward 1 city councilor with 343 votes. Michele Ronco also advanced to the Nov. 4 general election with 277 votes.

The third candidate, Nikolas Letendre-Cahillane, was eliminated with 245 votes.

The preliminary election narrowed the number of candidates for mayor, the two at-large City Council seats, and city councilor in Wards 1, 3 and 5.

In the citywide race for mayor, incumbent Gina-Louise Sciarra (2,991 votes) and Jillian Duclos (1,511 votes) advanced to the general election. Daniel Breindel (1,214 votes) and David Dombrowski (482 votes) were eliminated. The Ward 1 vote totals for mayor were Sciarra, 473; Duclos, 220; Breindel,148; and Dombrowski, 58

The four candidates for at-large city councilor who advanced to the general election are incumbent Garrick Perry (2,249 votes), Margaret Robbins (2,203 votes), Benjamin Spencer (1,813 votes), and Deborah Henson (1,788 votes). Yakov Kronrod (1,700 votes), and William O’Dwyer (895 votes) were eliminated. The Ward 1 vote totals for at-large city councilor were Perry, 355; Robbins, 310; Henson, 271; Kronrod, 253; Spencer, 245; and O’Dwyer, 131.

For Ward 3 city councilor, Laurie Loisel (441 votes) and incumbent Quaverly Rothenberg (309 votes) advance to the general election. Ace Tayloe was eliminated with 224 votes.

For Ward 5 city councilor, Aline Davis (439 votes) and Vincent Rotello IV (312 votes) advance to the general election. David Murphy was eliminated with 303 votes.

On Nov. 4, voters will elect a mayor, nine members of the City Council, nine members of the School Committee, three trustees of Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School, four Forbes Library trustees, and an elector under the Oliver Smith will.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Ward 1 voters will cast their ballots at the Jackson Street School.

There will be in-person early voting in City Hall on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 25, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Oct. 20 to 24 and Oct. 27 to 31 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The deadline for applying for mail-in early voting ballots is 5 p.m., Oct. 30. More information is available here:
