The Northampton Board of Health voted unanimously Thursday night to end its mask order requiring that face coverings be worn in public indoor spaces in the city. The mask mandate is lifted effective immediately.

The vote came after data was presented showing a substantial decline during recent weeks in the number of COVID cases and hospitalizations reported in Northampton.

Masks are still required in Northampton public schools until the School Committee takes action. Masks also must be worn on public transportation.

Individual institutions and businesses in Northampton may still implement their own mask policies and are responsible for enforcement.
